Anne DiPrima, Psy.D.

Anne is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has been in private practice since 1992. She treats adults and couples. She was the co-owner of a thriving practice in North Carolina before moving back to Madison in 2000. Anne and Richard DiPrima co-direct Madison’s exciting Young Shakespeare’s Player’s, a not-for-profit theater serving young people of Madison for 35 years. Before her career in psychology, Anne was an English teacher, writer, editor, and creative director for several news and educational publications.

Primary Clinical Interests:
-disorders of mood (especially complicated or entrenched depression)
-anxiety (interpersonal, social, generalized);
-the effects of trauma (physical, emotional, sexual);
-problems of identity, self-image, self expression;
-damaged or ineffective interpersonal relationships (past or present)

Anne has a strong interest in fostering effective self-expression, including helping artists, writers, public speakers, and performers resolve creative blocks and the pressures associated with performance. She also has a special interest in the new research into brain plasticity and its promising implications for producing change in human behavior.

Treatment methods: Anne combines psychodynamic and insight-oriented treatment methods with cognitive and behavioral techniques, and mindfulness principles, among other modalities in her clinical work.
