Dr. Herrmann’s goal is to aggressively treat mental illness and avoid hospitalization; however, when needed he coordinates with hospitals including Meriter Hospital, Mendota Mental Health Institute, Winnebago Mental Health Institute, Saint Mary’s Hospital, Roger’s Memorial Hospital and others.

Experience:
Dr. Herrmann has been practicing in Madison for over twenty years. He is the former Medical Director of Youth Services at the Mental Health Center of Dane County;  a former Assistant Clinical Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin; former Director of Research,  former Managing Partner and Consultant at Regent Mental Health Group.

He has authored and co-authored publications on Bipolar Disorder and Attention Deficit Disorder. He is a member of the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation and he has been a member of the Board of Directors and is former Vice President of National Alliance for Mental Illness of Wisconsin and former member of the Child and Adolescent Subcommittee of the Governor’s Committee on Mental Health.

Education and Certifications:
Internship, Residency in General Psychiatry and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry were completed at the University of Iowa. He is Board Certified.

Personal Interests:
Fishing, Trap Shooting, Hiking, and SCUBA, are some of the interests he enjoys.
